Italy is such a beautiful place to visit and experience, whether it be the scenery, food or different ways they communicate. It is a great experience no matter who you decide to bring along because you will not be making a mistake bringing them. It is highly suggested that the travel tips section is reread before you do come visit so you know what to do and all of the important places to visit. Next, the verbal and nonverbal languages would be another important section to review to make sure you know how they communicate with each other and foreigners. They love to keep eye contact and want to keep conversations going with you so make sure you brush up on a little bit of Italian so they will be impressed. Italy is mainly made up of Catholicism, the majority of Italians are baptized as Catholics. Locating a Catholic church in Italy is usually very easy since more than 80 percent of the population is Catholic. The main Catholic church is located in the center of Rome, which is lead by the Pope in Vatican City (Perkins, 2020). The current Pope is Pope Francis who gets his name from St. Francis of Assisi, who is a patron saint from Italy. Pope Francis came into power in 2013 after Pope Benedict XVI in 2013 resigned. Pope Francis is mainly known for his liberal values which is different from other Pope's in the past. Francis is also known for his other views such as social welfare and humility (Perkins, 2020). The relationship from the church and government is separate, it is regulated by treaties that grant the church social and financial benefits (Francis & Giordan, 2021). Italy is such a beautiful place to visit and experience many things with other people. However, how do you know what to do first in such a big and wonderful place? These are some of the best travel tips when visiting Italy. First, Italy is so much more than what people think it is. There are so many small islands to explore that will get you off of the mainland, some of these islands are Sicily, Sardinia and Elba! There are some beautiful beaches to visit, one of the beaches to go visit is Terracina and it is full of white sand and the prettiest water you will ever see! To get to these places, you are going to want to take a train. There is a high speed railway between the big cities of Rome, Florence and Venice (Lloyd, 2022). Of course you are going to want the local food they have there, and you will not make a mistake with whatever you choose. Art in Italy is regarded as some of the most beautiful work there is, especially the Renaissance. The Renaissance lasted from 1300 to 1520 and it marked of an era in art history (Piano, 2022). The painters during this era studied a lot of human anatomy, because the knowledge it brought to give the artists the certain figures they needed to complete some of their paintings. With this also came new and improved methods for the creating of paintings. The first creation was egg based tempera and that was the basis of what was to come, next was oil paint as well as the preparation of different surfaces for painting on walls and wooden tables (Zimmerman, Gordon 2022). Some of the most famous paintings during this era from Italy were "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo Da Vinci and "The Last Supper" by Leonardo Da Vinci. Italy is a country that is known to be very romantic and personable, which is true, however there are many other verbal and nonverbal languages that are shown that people do not pay more attention to. Starting at the beginning with just normal verbal communication, Italians usually are very direct when it comes to communicating with others, they are open with others. They will ask a lot about other people just to get to know them on a personal level, they also feel like silence is offensive and will speak to fill the void in a conversation. When it comes to raising their voice in a conversation, it is not to be rude to another person it is simply because they want to be sure they are heard. Now on the other side of the spectrum with nonverbal language, Italians like to be close to one another when it deals with personal space. The food in Italy is considered a main staple of what the culture stands for. The three main things that are important to the Italians are food, cooking and family! It helps them keep their matter of pride and feels like they are not losing their identity. The Italians perfected their craft of making these delicious dishes such as Veal Marsala, different types of Pizzas and some desserts like Italian cheesecake (Costantini, 2018). However, they did not want to incorporate with the American culture at first because they did not trust the customs because they were so proud of their own. These Italians saw their ethnicity as a power strategy and to be used for positive impact once they became accustomed to the American culture.
